About Amanda Juliet

Hi, I’m Amanda—a self-taught ceramicist based in beautiful North Yorkshire, where I create colourful, often whimsical ceramics from my home studio. Working primarily with stoneware, I hand-build a mix of functional pots and decorative forms, each one unique and inspired by the natural world. My goal? To craft pieces that spark joy, brighten spaces, and bring a little magic into everyday life.

My journey with ceramics began later in life, though the love for it was always there. In my twenties, I studied environmental science, drawn to the beauty of nature, but I also had a creative side that I explored over the years. It wasn’t until my fifties that I finally took a ceramics course—and from the moment I touched the clay, I knew I had found my true creative passion. I was hooked! I bought my own kiln, started experimenting, and never looked back.

Now, as I step into a new chapter of life, ceramics is more than just an art form for me—it’s a way to unwind, reconnect, and express myself. I’m endlessly inspired by organic shapes, bright colours, and the simple joy of creating by hand. Through my work, I hope to inspire others to embrace creativity at any stage of life—because it’s never too late to follow your passion.

Once fully dried, my pieces are fired twice in an electric kiln. The first firing reaches 1000°C, turning the clay into a porous ceramic body ready for glazing.
